Volthoom was actually the first Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Okay, the story of the “Power Ring” is a story about a Martian named Volthoom. A search party found her two days later, completely catatonic and covered in mud and blood.
Jessica kept running until she simply couldn’t. She was not alone at first, but one by one her peers dropped to the ground and fell behind. Someone screamed and when the gunfire broke out, Jessica just ran. While training a new batch of counselors, Jessica took the frisky teens on a hike to show them the route and while doing so, the group came upon the Aryan Brigade disposing of the bodies of two police officers. In 2010, Jessica’s life took a drastic turn. By twenty-one, she was assistant manager and she really did not see much changing about her life. Jessica repeated this pattern for much longer than she cared to admit. Jessica worked the other eight months of the year as a waitress at a folksy diner and a part-time clerk at a video shop (remember those?). It was during this fight that Batman convinced Jessica that if he could overcome tragedy and fear to become a hero, she could, too. Under the negative influence of the Ring of Volthoom, Jessica attacked her hometown and fought the combined forces of the Justice League and the Doom Patrol. Eventually, it took over her entire body and bent her to its will. During the invasion of Earth, Power Ring was killed by Sinestro, and his ring forced itself onto Jessica Cruz. The Green Lantern counterpart from Earth-3 was Harold Jordan, also known as “Power Ring.” Instead of wielding a ring made by the Guardians of the Universe, he used the ancient Ring of Volthoom. Following this incident, Jessica developed anxiety resulting in self-imposed exile, and she locked herself in her apartment for four years.ĭuring this time, the Crime Syndicate, evil doppelgängers of the Justice League from Earth-3, had taken over the Prime Earth and exiled their heroic counterparts. Intent on eliminating witnesses to their crime, the mobsters shot and killed all of Jessica’s friends, leaving her as the only survivor of the massacre. The group stumbled upon a gang of mobsters burying the body of someone they’d murdered. On a hunting trip with a group of friends, Jessica Cruz’s life was forever changed.
